We are a multi-generational church and as such, we value the large group of Seniors who make Bakersfield First Assembly their church home. We honor not only their past contributions and the giant footsteps they have left for us, but more importantly, their future contributions to the ministries of our church.
They are an active bunch! They love traveling together on our church buses to interesting and educational destinations. In the past we have visited the Ronald Reagan Museum, The Getty Museum, The Long Beach aquarium, The Queen Mary, Knott’s Berry Farms and an afternoon studying the heavens at the Griffith Park Observatory, just to name a few.
They are also very social and they love to meet new friends and re-connect with many old ones. We host a monthly Senior’s Brunch on the second Thursday of every month, September through June, with well over a hundred attendees. We also present special formal evenings during the year, such as “A Sentimental Journey,” featuring a great dinner honoring The Greatest Generation, which is a look back at the World War II years, the Big Band era, as well as the fashions of the day, presented by live runway models.
Our Seniors are the spiritual foundation on which our church rests. They are very active in their pursuit of the truths in the Holy Bible. To that end, we offer two different Sunday School Classes on Sunday mornings between our traditional and contemporary worship services: Primetimers, taught by Thelma Williams and Faithbuilders, taught by Larry and Jean Chapman.
Wednesday nights are very special to our Seniors. We have dinner together at the All-Church Family Dinner in our Family Ministry Center, beginning at 5:30 pm, followed by various classes offered.
Come join us and see what the “Buzz” is all about.
