Since Bakersfield First Assembly desires to obey the direct command of our Lord Jesus Christ to preach the Gospel to all nations and make disciples, (Matt 28:19-20), we have created a Missions Department which helps facilitate support for missionaries around the world.
We desire to minister holistically and mindfully to human needs, and as such, support such local works as the Bakersfield Rescue Mission and the Bakersfield Pregnancy Center. Our Assemblies of God Missionaries are involved in church planting, Bible School training, disaster relief, as well meeting other diverse needs around the world.
The Missions Department operates:
To carry out the Great Commission, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" Matthew 28:19-20.
To minister to the total human need. "And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward" Matthew 10:42. "I tell you the truth, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to Christ will certainly not lose his reward" Mark 9:41.
That men and women will be saved and taught in the knowledge of God. "to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up" Ephesians 4:12.
Missions Ministry Team Responsibilities
-- To encourage the congregation to pray in intercession for our missionaries and evangelism.
-- To educate and inspire volunteers for Missions service.
-- To develop and encourage the Faith Promise program to maintain the Missions budget.
-- To be good stewards of the Missions budget.
-- To recommend additions or deletions to the Missions support list.
-- To act as a liaison between the church, Missionaries, and Missionary organization.
First Assembly Missions Goals:
-- To review and pray about increasing monthly support of our partners each time they return for itineration.
-- To prayerfully establish new missionary partnerships each year.
-- To take one construction and medical trip out of the country each year at a cost of $1200 to $1500 per person with construction and medical material project costs of $10-15,000.
-- To send teams out for ministry trips with our partners, ie: Book of Hope Distribution, Evangelism Teams, Healthcare Teams and Prayer trips.
We need your help to meet these goals.
Our partners need your help to faithfully pray, give and go, as we serve locally and send globally.
Those whom Christ gave His life for need your help so they can hear the Good News and find Jesus.
We welcome your information requests and involvement. Discover how you can be a world changer through involvement in the Missions Program of First Assembly of God!
